Israeli Military Deploys Additional Forces to Southern Lebanon
The Israeli military has deployed additional forces to southern Lebanon overnight, reinforcing what officials described as defensive positions aimed at protecting civilians and strategic sites from potential Hezbollah attacks.
“We’re only at the borderline area in a defensive manner to prevent attacks against civilians and very strategic important points,” said Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani during an online briefing with reporters.
The escalation comes amid heightened tensions between Hezbollah and Israel, following U.S. and Israeli strikes against Iran. Smoke was seen rising over Beirut’s southern suburbs after Israeli airstrikes earlier this week, underscoring the volatile situation in the region.

Hezbollah fired rockets at Israel late Sunday in retaliation for joint U.S.-Israeli strikes against Iran.
In response, Defence Minister Israel Katz authorized the military to advance and secure additional positions in southern Lebanon.
Israeli forces have occupied five positions in the area since November 2024, marking a significant expansion of their presence.
